The Verde Valley Community of Cornville/Page Springs
"Preparing for the possible next president"
Home to Windmill Gardens and 20-year part time resident John McCain, this rural Unincorporated Verde Valley community may be on the verge of fame. Most of the 3,500 people who live here don't even notice when McCain, clad in blue jeans and baseball cap, is in town. This could all change if Senator McCain wins the Presidential race. According to the report by Lauren Proper, Cronkite News Service, Crawford,Texas tourists have contributed between $8.6 - $13.8 million per year to their local economy. When the president is in town, so are the press and the secret service. Cornville just may become a major tourist attraction.
Minutes from Sedona, Page Springs road winds along the banks of Oak Creek into Cornville, desirable to those looking for a rural real estate setting. Cornville's largest subdivision is Verde Santa Fe - a newer golf course residential development. Popular wineries include Echo Canyon Vineyard and Winery, Oak Springs Winery, Javelina Leap, and Page Springs Cellars.
Local history shows Cornville's original name as "The Pitchner Place." It is rumored when the founder of Cornville, Samuel Coane registered the name Coaneville in the mid 1880's, the Prescott state capitol clerk accidentally named it Cornville on the application.
